Casper, my albino doberman. She turned one year old on August 11th 2012.

She's a female, by the way. Don't let the name fool you.

This image can be used for: figure study, pose and breed references, photomanipulations, commissions, prints, etc. BUT, you must leave me a link to what you make, even if it's posted off DA.

She came with her tail cropped and her dew claws removed, but the cropping of the ears is a classic doberman trait. It's purely cosmetic and it didn't seem to phase her a bit.

yes i know. but it's so unfair to do this with these beautiful dogs :( but by me in europe, it's not allowed to crop ears and tails. they look so beautiful with flappy ears and a long tail :)

To each their own. I have no problem with it. I've always owned breeds of dogs that require cropping and docking. It's done so young in their life, they wont remember it and it wont affect from long term. Even we, as humans, have several things done to us as children and babies that seem horrible and are often painful, but it is done to us young so that we wont remember it. Do you remember it? I don't, but I know it happened.
Where I live, we are allowed to dock the tails of many breeds of dog and many respectable breeders with AKC or CKC registered dogs will dock the tails before selling the puppies. You are not allowed to dock tails after the bones within it harden. Same with the cartilage in the ears. However, ear cropping is only allowed in the doberman breed.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but you shouldn't be so quick to judge. Many people have to consider what sort of lifestyle they live based upon. Casper was given to me as a demo dog for training and as protection because I am a young woman living on my own. It's safer for me to have a more intimidating looking dog, which cropped ears tend to give the impression of. So beauty is only part of it.

I'm a supporter of free choice. If you want to crop and dock your dogs ears and tails, by all means, that is your choice and you are free to make it. At the same time, if you would like to leave them be, that is also your choice and I will never see the two as any different and never say an ill word about it unless one is said to me first.
